iVF Riga progress report

Innovative approach and introduction of new technologies allows IVF Riga Clinic to treat more than 40% of patients, largely due to the newly opened Centre for Reproductive Genetics. It is not yet even a full year since IVF Riga Centre for Reproductive Genetics opening, but the number of embryos examined for the presence of genetic abnormalities, has already reached 500. It should be noted that our Reproductive Genetics Centre is the first and currently the only in the Baltic and Northern European countries. Clinical researches, innovations, and the introduction and rapid development of new technologies lead to changes in the industry of infertility treatment - new and modern methods replace the previous ones, it is also clear that new trends are the most popular services at our clinic. Currently most requested service at IVF Riga Clinic is preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) - genetic testing of developed embryos. This testing can be carried out using the aCGH method (array Comparative Genomic Hybridization), allows for simultaneous testing of all chromosomes in an embryo before the embryo is transferred into the uterus. As a result, PGS by aCGH makes it possible to choose the best and most viable genetically competent embryos, thus effectively increasing the rate of implantation, clinical pregnancy and successful birth. Another requested service is Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) in case of rearranged parental karyotype. iVF Riga offers embryonic PGD aimed at selecting viable embryos free of specific mutations, for further transfer into female uterine cavity. As well, the success of iVF Riga Clinic is based on the treatment of complicated infertility pathologies, providing chance for pregnancy even after previous unsuccessful treatment courses. Our success rating (including with PGS/PGD use) is 85% successful pregnancies! iVF Riga Clinic Medical Director and the leading reproductologist, gynaecologist, obstetric specialist Dr. Violeta Fodina always says: “There are no hopeless situations - you just have to believe and act!”
