OxiSperm test

OxiSperm helps determine the presence of free radicals in the male sperm. Metabolic processes produce free radicals that affect spermatogenesis. One of the possible causes of sperm DNA fragmentation is the reactive oxygen species that destroy cell nuclei. Elevated levels of reactive oxygen species in the sperm affect the man’s ability to father a child, as the cell nuclei contain genetic information or DNA. DNA strands react with the reactive oxygen, which leads to oxidation and fragmentation of the DNA structure. Most often, the content of free radicals in the semen depends on a variety of substances that have a daily impact on the body: tobacco, alcohol, household appliances, radiation (from laptops, TV and UV rays), pesticides, heavy metals, ozone and so on. Inflammatory processes in the internal male genitalia play their role too.
