Hormonal Testing

Patients have to take a blood test to determine the level of the male sex hormone – testosterone. Also, this test may define the levels of prolactin, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), estradiol and inhibin B (by doctors recommendation).

NB! Donation of blood for hormone tests should be done early in the morning (before 9:00am).

Sexually Transmitted Infection Diagnosis

It is very important to take a smear from the urethra for the diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections diagnosis (STI). The patient has to remember to refrain from going to the toilet for at least 4 hours before the procedure.

Metabolic Deviation

A quite frequent somatic cause of erectile dysfunction after 35 years of age is the so-called metabolic syndrome. A background of smoking, high blood pressure and weight gain causes metabolic fat and carbohydrates disorders, as well as reducing the sensitivity of cells in the whole body to the hormone testosterone. NB! The blood has to be taken on an empty stomach.

PSA Tests

PSA – prostate specific antigen is a prostate protein, which is a part of the sperm and is involved in the liquefaction of the semen into the vagina after ejaculation. That provides motility.
